Instructions to authors

IPRinfo is a professional magazine for those interested in intellectual property (IPR) issues. The magazine welcomes articles from specialists. The editor-in-chief makes the final decisions on what will be published.

General instructions for authors

    * The maximum length of an article is 8000 characters including spaces (which makes about 1000 words).
    * Do not use any pre-defined styles nor hyphenation.
    * Save your text as a Word or RTF document.
    * Do not use endnotes nor footnotes. References to legislation or case law should be listed at the end of the article.
    * Submit your article to the managing editor as an e-mail attachment.
    * The deadline for authors is one week before that of ready-to-print material, which is given in the Media Kit of IPRinfo on the web site.
    * When necessary, the editors will add or revise the title, subtitles and a summarizing first paragraph.
    * The editors also may make other editorial revisions and attach supplementary references and links.
    * Send pictures or photographs as e-mail attachment in jpg, gif or tiff formats. Captions should be included at the end of the article.
    * Please include your consent / denial for the publication of your text on the web site of IPRinfo. ‘
    * Write straightforwardly, avoiding professional jargon, so that even readers who are not specialists in your field can benefit from your work.
    * How to be concise: avoid repetition, use pronouns, remove adverbs and adjectives, be straightforward, and stick to your point.

More information for authors

IPRinfo is published by IPR University Center Association in five issues a year, one of which is entirely in English. In the other issues, most articles are written in Finnish. The texts are published electronically on the web site of the Institute.
The lay-out, part of the contents, printing and the subscriptions are taken care of by Unionimedia Oy.
The obtaining and editing of the contents is taken care of by the editor-in-chief and the co-editor. Anyone can offer his/her texts to be published in IPRinfo. The authors cannot be compensated financially, but they receive a complimentary copy of the issue in which their published article appears.
Submitting his/her article to IPR University Center Association, the author entitles the association to publish the article on the printed magazine. The Association also has the right to publish the text in electronic form on the web site of IPR University Center unless the author explicitly forbids this. To ensure the right to publish the article online, the editors ask each author to give an explicit consent to this.
All other rights to the article text remain with the author.
The editor-in-chief of IPRinfo is responsible for the contents of the magazine.
