Making Law through Pro-Active Law and Legal Design Thinking

Ajankohta

University of Lapland, LS 5

Pro-active law, as opposed to reactive law, approaches legal issues in business and society via acting in anticipation of future problems, needs, or changes instead of reacting to failures and shortcomings. Legal design thinking is a cross-discipline that makes use of Legal Thinking, Design Thinking, Visual Thinking and User Experience Design to enhance the human friendliness of understanding and applying the law. Both these approaches consider law as a tool to foster sustainable relationships, ultimately increasing value for companies, individuals, and societies as a whole.

This seminar gathers together experts working in the fields of proactive law and legal design thinking from a multidisciplinary perspective, in order to raise awarness and understanding on the practical, as well as academic value of making use of these approaches in legal practices. As such, the seminar will be of interest to academics, practicioners and businesses, as well as policy makers.

Amongst the speakers and commentators featured:
•    Associate Prof. Helena Haapio, University of Vaasa and Lexpert
•    Dr. Stefania Passera, Lexpert
•    Prof. Soili Nysten-Haarala, University of Lapland
